• Use Olive or Vegetable Oil – Use olive or other natural vegetable oils only. Never use paraffin or synthetic oils, which are a fire hazard.
• Keep Oil Level Above Half – Fill at least 50% of the glass with oil (water underneath optional) to prevent uneven heating and cracking.
• Adjust Wick Height, Not Length – Control flame size by moving the wick up or down in the cork float. A small, steady flame protects the glass.
• Avoid Overheating the Rim – Keep the flame at least 2–3 cm (1 inch) below the top edge to prevent thermal cracks at the rim.
• Cool Before Handling – Glass can crack if dropped or touched while hot. Let it cool fully before cleaning, refilling, or moving the lamp.
