Lay the chair flat and look down at the round hole in the exact center of the metal mechanism on the base (the viewing hole at the gas lift connection point). Side-lever gas lift (new models after 2009): Through the small hole, you can see a protruding horizontal metal lever aligned horizontally with the internal metal linkage; Top-mounted gas spring (early models): Only a flat, circular pin is visible inside the hole; there is no protruding horizontal lever. If you cannot distinguish the model using the two methods above, the most reliable way is to remove the original gas spring and compare it with this product to confirm the model.
