Bentonite Clay, also known as Montmorillonite Clay, is a naturally occurring hydrated aluminium silicate formed from aged volcanic ash.Highly absorbent and rich in naturally occurring minerals including silica, iron and aluminium, it is widely used in cosmetic formulations as a thickener, emulsion stabiliser and suspending agent.It hydrates quickly in water to provide structure and viscosity to the water phase of creams and liquid products, making it especially suitable for BB creams, liquid foundations and tinted moisturisers.Use at 0.5–3% and hydrate in pure water while mixing until smooth. Suitable for opaque formulations only and not recommended for clear products.
