These stove gaskets are medium density which is the most common. ✔ Replace all worn gaskets yearly to ensure your stove is air-tight. ✔ For peak efficiency check woodstove gaskets regularly and replace each season. LavaLock Gaskets are: Graphite impregnated gasket material to improve abrasion resistantance. Additionally, the graphite lubrication is less likely to get stuck with creosote and ensures a better and more consistent air tight seal. Black colored fiberglass wood or pellet stove gaskets are used by leading stove manufacturers due to better aesthetics and higher performance. Directions: Be sure stove is at room temperature. Wear protective gloves and eye protection. Protect work area with a drop cloth. Use a screwdriver or scraper to remove old gasket and clean door channels down to bare metal. Apply a bead of gasket cement in door channel (not included) Press new gasket into wet cement and close door to check for airtight fit. Trim gasket as needed. Clean up all cement spills or excess immediately with wet cloth. TEST FIT, close a dollar bill in the door of a cool stove, if there is resistance when you remove the bill, the gasket is making a good seal.
