Generic Perfluorosulfonic H-P XL Proton / Cation Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (H-P_10cm*10cm)

H-P membranes are ultra-thin cation exchange membranes that are manufactured by the Chemours Company. These membranes are reinforced and designed for lower relative humidity environments and high operating temperature. The reinforcement improves the membrane’s handling and physical properties. When the reinforcement is combined with the chemically stabilized polymer, the H-P membrane exhibits both substantially lower fluoride ion release and longer operating durability under challenging fuel cell conditions. H-P is 20.3 micrometers thick. The membrane is positioned between a backing film and a coversheet.

• XL membranes are newly developed reinforced membranes that enhance the chemical stability of membranes. The mechanical durability and enhanced chemical stability of the XL membrane are the result of an advanced stabilization system that increases mechanical strength and provides resistance to peroxide attack, resulting in improved membrane life and performance. XL is 27.5 micrometers (1.1 mil) thick. The cation exchange membrane is positioned between a backing film and a coversheet.
• Chemours (formerly DuPont) XL membranes are based on chemically stabilized perfluorosulfonic acid/PTFE copolymer in the acid (H+) form, and exhibit substantially lower fluoride ion release compared to the non-stabilized polymer – a sign of improved chemical durability. PFSA membranes are widely used for Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells and water electrolyzers. The membrane performs as a separator and solid electrolyte in a variety of electrochemical cells that require the membrane to selectively transport cations across the cell junction. The polymer is chemically resistant and durable.
