Full copper 28AWG wires, 50µ gold RJ-45 contacts. Jacket with an outer diameter of only 3.8 mm to improve airflow in the cabinet. Fixed cable lugs. For duct applications. CAT6 U/UTP Slimline Ethernet cables for data centers have a smaller diameter (3.8mm versus 5.9mm) than regular CAT6 cables and the bend radius is lower compared to regular patch cables. All this leads to better airflow in the cabinet. Although ISO/IEC and TIA standards require the use of patch cables between 22 and 26 AWG, it is possible to use 28 AWG patch cables, but this results in higher attenuation, especially at higher frequencies. ACT therefore recommends a shorter permanent connection length than normal 24 AWG patch cables to compensate for this higher attenuation. ACT recommends a maximum bundle size of 24 cables in PoE applications to limit the temperature rise in the cables associated with the provision of PoE inserts. The current standards (ANSI TSB-184-A) limit the maximum temperature rise to less than 15 degrees Celsius above the ambient temperature for the middle cable in a bundle.
