How It Works When placed between an existing pavement (or base layer) and a new asphalt overlay, the geogrid acts as a reinforcement interlayer. It absorbs tensile stresses that cause reflective cracks, while the bitumen coating ensures full integration with the asphalt matrix. This extends pavement life to 50+ years under normal traffic and environmental conditions. Installation Instructions 1. Clean and level the existing surface. Fill any potholes or large cracks. 2. Apply a tack coat (asphalt emulsion or cutback) 3. Unroll the geogrid onto the wet tack coat, smooth side down. Avoid wrinkles. 4. Overlap edges by 4–6 inches longitudinally and 6–12 inches transversely. Use staples or anchor pins if needed. 5. Compact the geogrid lightly with a rubber-tired roller or paving equipment. 6. Pave hot asphalt mix (≥ 1.5 inches thickness) directly over the geogrid. Compact as usual.
