Similar-looking AIRCARE and Kenmore humidifiers may use MAF2, 1040, 1041, 1043, HDC1 or other wick sizes that are not interchangeable with MAF1.Brand names and model numbers are used only to identify compatibility.MAF1 Wick Filter InstallationTurn off and unplug the humidifier before opening the housing.Move the humidifier to a water-resistant surface before removing the old wet filter.Remove the water bottle or reservoir according to the humidifier owner’s manual.Grasp the upper housing securely and lift it straight up from the base.Note the position of the old wick, then remove and discard it.Remove standing water and clean mineral deposits from the base before installing the new wick.Coil the new MAF1 wick and position it between the upright supports in the bottom of the base.Place the beginning and end of the coiled wick together at the center of the base.Make sure the entire lower edge of the wick rests evenly on the floor of the water reservoir.Reinstall the upper housing and water bottle, ensuring all components are properly seated.Refill the humidifier and allow the new wick time to become fully saturated before evaluating moisture output.Care and ReplacementInspect the wick every 30–60 days.Replace it sooner if it becomes stiff, heavily discolored, damaged or covered with mineral deposits.Reduced water evaporation or lower humidity output can indicate that the wick needs replacement.Hard water may shorten filter life.Clean the humidifier base regularly according to the appliance manual.Always install a fresh wick at the beginning of a new humidification season.Do not mix vinegar and bleach when cleaning the humidifier.Do not operate the humidifier without the wick installed.
